Write a Great Classified Ad The most important element of your classified ad is the headline. You must remember that when people use the classifieds they are usually seeking a specific item. Depending on the item, there could be dozens or even hundreds of similar items for sale that the reader must evaluate at a glance. Your headline should grab the attention of the reader, be informative, and be short enough for them to read quickly as they are scanning the ads. It sounds like a tall order, but it's not too difficult if you give it a little thought. Just think about what would make you pay attention to the ad if it was you doing the shopping. Next is the body of the ad. This is where you tell about the item you are selling. You have 200 words, so give as much detail as possible. The more you tell, the better the chances of selling your item. Give more than just facts. Give it a personal touch. Tell what you loved about the item when you got it, or tell what you will miss about it when it's gone. Most people will want to know why you are selling the item. Above all, be honest. Don't misrepresent the item in any way.
